Spinach, cinnamon, Green Shake

with kale blueberry ice cubes, lemon juice, carrots, bananas , and parsnip.

Recipe:

Servings: 2

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups spinach

  • 1 banana

  • 2 full size carrots OR 1 cup mini carrots

  • 1 lemon, juiced and zested

  • 1/4 cup blueberries

  • 1 - 3 oz. parsnip

  • 6-8 Kale ice cubes (Blend 1 cup kale and 1/4 cup blueberries together, put into ice-cube tray and freeze overnight)

  • 1 tablespoon grated ginger

  • 2 tablespoons cinnamon

  • 1 cup water

Clean and wash ALL produce before using. Grab your blender OR Juicer and mix all ingredients together. Tightly close lid and run at high blending speed, preferably 3-5, 20 second pulses. pour into medium sized drinking glasses and serve chilled.

A few notes:

  • If you would like a sweeter smoothie add some natural honey or even pure maple syrup.

  • I prefer to use a high speed blender over a juicer to ensure all nutrients in the pulp remain, but a juicer will deliver a more palette friendly texture.

  • Make sure ALL produce is washed and cleaned before putting into blender. It is so easy to just get everything and throw it in without washing, but we know of the dangers of pesticides and chemicals especially on berries.

  • Be careful with how often you consume Kale and in what quantity. Consuming large quantities of Kale have been linked to the build up of thallium in the bloodstream. Like with everything, use in moderation.

  • A good blender will really go a long way with fruit and vegetable smoothies. Invest in a good one and you will be able to make great smoothies every time.
